# Credits and membership

> How credits pay for AI replies, what the free daily grant covers, and what each membership tier adds.

Roleva uses **credits** to meter AI usage. Every character reply consumes credits based on how much the AI reads and writes for that turn.

## Free daily grant

Every account receives a free credit grant each day — enough for casual play without paying anything.

- The grant refreshes daily (the reset follows US Eastern time).
- Unused free credits do not stack forever; the grant tops you back up each day.
- If you run out mid-scene, you can wait for the next grant or upgrade your membership.

Check your current balance under **My → Settings → Credits**.

## Membership tiers

Membership is a subscription with three tiers — **Basic**, **Plus**, and **Premium**. Higher tiers include:

- A larger daily credit grant.
- **Advanced memory** and **memory across chats**, so long stories stay consistent (see [Roleplay chat](/en/guides/chat/)).
- Larger message history storage for your threads.
- Higher AI throughput limits for fast back-and-forth scenes.
- **Premium** additionally gets early access to new features.

Manage or cancel your subscription anytime under **My → Settings → Subscription**. Cancelling keeps benefits active until the end of the paid period.

## Buying and redeeming

- **Subscribe in the app**: pick a tier on the billing page and complete checkout. Orders and receipts appear under **My → Orders**.
- **Redemption codes**: if you received a redemption code (from an event or a gift), open **My → Redeem membership**, paste the code, and the matching tier activates immediately for the stated number of days. Each code works once.

## Level bonus

Your account level can add a percentage bonus on top of the daily credit grant. See [Experience and levels](/en/guides/levels/) for the details.

## If you see "insufficient credits"

1. Wait for tomorrow's free grant, or
2. Upgrade or extend membership for a larger daily grant, or
3. Redeem a code if you have one.

Your threads are never deleted because you ran out of credits — the story waits for you.
